Prof. Maiti completed his graduation in chemistry in 1991 from Ramkrishna Mission Vidyamandir, University of Calcutta. Then he completed his master's from the University of Calcutta in 1993. In the year of 1998, he received his Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Jadavpur University. Then he joined Jadavpur University for post-doctoral studies (Jan 2000 -July 2002). After that, he moved to the School of Medicine, Wayne State University, Detroit, USA as a post-doctoral fellow (July 2002 – June 2004).

      He was appointed as a senior lecturer of Chemistry at Dumkal College Basantapur, Kalyani University. He moved to Calcutta University and joined as an assistant professor. His field of research is organic synthesis and nanoscience.
